Throughout the year
We have runners who train and compete at all distances from 800m to ultras. We run track, cross country, trail and road. In New Zealand, we tend to race track in the summer and cross country in the winter. There are autumn marathons (Rotorua) and spring marathons (Auckland) but there are road and trail races throughout the year.
As an Owairaka member, you can access and compete in interclub races through Athletics Auckland and at national and international level. One of the highlights of our club is the New Zealand Road Relays which are the first weekend in October but we also target events such as Huntly Half Marathon and Kerikeri Half Marathon. The club has a rich history in these event.
We train as a squad throughout the year on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5.55pm at the Lovelock Track. Sessions are up to 90 minutes. All are welcome - whatever your speed or ability - see COACHING for more details.

Our women #owaiwomen train together sometimes too.
You'll find a strong Owai crew on Tuesday nights at the O Hagan's 5k Run at the Viaduct Basin.
And there's the Owairaka parkrun on Saturday mornings at 8am from Owairaka park, just off Owairaka Ave.

We run informal track meets through the year - perfect if you've never tried racing on the track before and want to give it a go. We also send athletes to regional track meets through Athletics Auckland which again are awesome for getting some race experience on the track and smashing a pb.
