I’ve always played sports, there have been breaks but I’ve always gone back to running. I work in finance, sitting down all day, so I’ve always balanced that with some physical activity - lunch time runs during the week days, often with fellow Owairaka members. When we lived in Sandringham I’d come down to the club for the 5k on a Wednesday and sometimes even win it (that’s my memory anyway!!).  I think my first club outing was the Southland Centennial relays at War Memorial Park which was a lot of fun and running for the club went from there. I regularly represent the club at Cross Country, NZ Road Relays and NZ Masters Athletics track champs. There’s some great friendships that have been made over the years through the club connection which is one of the things I value most. It’s also been great to see the growth in the club and the members getting the benefits out of being part of this great community.
